Leavitt slams ‘full-blown crazy’ Dems supporting illegal immigrants

Published:

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt harshly rebuked “full-blown crazy” Democrats for advocating illegal immigrants, suggesting the party’s motto should be “illegal immigrant criminals first.”

Leavitt’s comment comes as Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano, an illegal immigrant who was previously deported twice and killed two 19-year-olds in a drunk-driving accident in November 2021, could be released in California. The press secretary detailed how the administration is “taking action” to prepare for Ortega-Anguiano’s release, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement placing a detainer on him. She added that the Department of Justice will seek a conviction against him should California choose not to cooperate with the administration.

“President [Donald] Trump is not going to tolerate illegal immigrant crime, and this individual case represents everything that is wrong with our immigration system,” Leavitt stated on Fox News’s America Reports. “This individual was twice deported, but was allowed back into our country by the previous administration, took the lives of two young Americans, and is now barely facing any consequences. We will not tolerate it. We will not stand for that, and we will continue to enforce our nation’s immigration laws and ensure that illegal immigrants who not only break our nation’s immigration laws, but then further commit heinous acts of violence against law-abiding American citizens in our country, are held to the fullest extent of the law.”

Leavitt proceeded to rebuke Democratic lawmakers for being “full-blown crazy” in advocating illegal immigrants, including Maryland resident Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was deported to El Salvador. She cited how Democrats have also sought to visit Garcia in El Salvador despite promising to stand up for “law-abiding American citizens,” calling it “despicable.”

As such, she stated that the administration will continue to “call them out” on the prioritization that Democrats are giving alleged illegal immigrants while the White House continues to enforce its immigration laws.

Following Garcia’s mistaken deportation, the White House vowed that he would “never” live in the United States again, warning that “he would immediately be deported” if he ever found his way back to the country. Leavitt has also suggested that Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) “wasted Easter Sunday” by conducting interviews about his meeting with Garcia.

This week, DHS debuted new ads that will run both domestically and internationally, warning illegal immigrants to self-deport from the nation or the administration “will hunt you down.” The ad urges illegal immigrants to download the U.S. Customs and Border Protection app so they can self-deport.
