Trump trashes 60 Minutes, calls on FCC to strip CBS of its license

Published:

President Donald Trump directed his ire at CBS‘s 60 Minutes after he said he tuned in to the “FAKE News Show” on Sunday night.

In a flurry of Truth Social posts, Trump trashed the show’s coverage, which included a segment on the Ukraine war and another on Greenland.

“They did not one, but TWO, major stories on ‘TRUMP,’ one having to do with Ukraine, which I say is a War that would never have happened if the 2020 Election had not been RIGGED, in other words, if I were President and, the other story was having to do with Greenland, casting our Country, as led by me, falsely, inaccurately, and fraudulently,” the president said.

Trump mentioned his lawsuit against Paramount, the media company that owns CBS, saying he’s “so honored” to be suing them over their “fraudulent, beyond recognition, reporting.” That lawsuit, which is over a 60 Minutes segment with then-Vice President Kamala Harris that Trump says was deceptively edited to remove a jumbled answer from Harris on Israel, has progressed as the two are reportedly poised to begin mediation.

Trump further slammed 60 Minutes as “not a ‘News Show,’ but a dishonest Political Operative simply disguised as ‘News,’” adding that they must be held accountable and for CBS to lose its broadcasting license.

The president concluded his late-night rant by calling on Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr, who was tapped by Trump last November to lead the agency, to “impose the maximum fines and punishment, which is substantial, for their unlawful and illegal behavior.”
