Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will reportedly set off for a trip to Central America this week that will see her stop at the prison in El Salvador where hundreds of suspected Tren de Aragua and MS-13 gang members were sent just last weekend.
According to a Fox News report, Noem’s three-day trip will include stops in El Salvador, where she will tour the Terrorist Confinement Center and meet with President Nayib Bukele; Colombia, where she will meet with President Gustavo Petro; and Mexico, where she will meet with President Claudia Sheinbaum.
The trip will be from March 26-28 and is designed to underscore “the importance of our partner countries to help remove violent criminal illegal aliens from the United States,” according to DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin.
Noem’s trip to Central America follows the Trump administration sending two flights carrying suspected Tren de Aragua gang members to El Salvador after President Donald Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act to order the immediate deportation of all Venezuelan illegal immigrants 14 and older who are members of the gang.
Bukele posted dramatic footage of the migrants’ arrival in the country at the time, with the migrants being hauled into buses and taken to the country’s notorious Terrorism Confinement Center, known for its grisly conditions.

That deportation effort from Trump has since been paused following a court order, but other deportation flights have continued.
Just this weekend, Venezuela struck a deal with the United States that included Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro lifting his pause on accepting deportation flights. The first flight after the pause was lifted was sent to the country earlier on Sunday.
