Aime Cesaire: The Poetics of Negritude | Digital Series

Published:

Confronting History through Negritude.

Aime Cesaire, a poet and playwright from Martinique, was a key figure in the Negritude movement, which emerged in the 1930s. Led by black writers from France’s African and Caribbean colonies, the movement rejected colonialism and celebrated African culture and identity. In this animated documentary short, we are challenged to confront history and reclaim the power of self-definition.
