Man White-Knuckling Causeway Commute Deeply Regrets Watching “Final Destination” Last Night

Published:

A Metairie man is questioning his decision-making abilities after spending his entire Causeway Bridge commute in a cold sweat, flashing back to every single horrific scenario from Final Destination 2—a movie he now deeply regrets watching right before bed.

For those unfamiliar, the film opens with an infamously traumatic highway pileup scene featuring a rogue log truck—a disaster Ledet suddenly found uncomfortably plausible as he merged onto the bridge.

According to witnesses, Jason Ledet, 38, was seen gripping his steering wheel with enough force to fuse his hands to it while scanning the road for loose truck tires, collapsing guardrails, and rogue pelicans with a thirst for chaos.

“I was mostly fine until I got halfway across and saw an 18-wheeler, and then something in my head clicked,” Ledet told Neutral Ground News over the phone, his voice still shaky, either from lingering terror or the emergency beer he cracked open the second he hit dry land. “At that point, I just knew—this was it. I even started drafting my obituary in my head: ‘Local Man Meets Predictable End After Ignoring Every Final Destination Warning.’”

What I imagine every time I drive behind a log truck

Despite clear weather and zero traffic incidents, Ledet reportedly flinched at every lane change, spent an extended period calculating his escape route should the bridge suddenly cease to exist, and held his breath for the final six miles—just in case.

Causeway officials declined to comment but did confirm that Ledet’s speed fluctuated between 85 mph and a near-stop.

Sources say Ledet made it safely to the Northshore, but is now exploring all possible alternatives to the return trip, including quitting his job, convincing his boss that he’s developed a rare, bridge-induced allergy that legally requires him to work remotely forever, and pricing out kayak rentals—just in case paddling across Lake Pontchartrain feels like the safer option.
