The New Orleans City Council emailed Mayor LaToya Cantrell requesting five bullet points detailing what she accomplished last week.
Instead of a response, they received an automatic out-of-office reply, stating:
“Thank you for your email. I am currently out of town as it relates to being mayor doing the work and will respond on tomorrow, as we continue moving forward in a way that best serves the people of New Orleans.“
One City Hall insider, speaking on condition of anonymity, summed it up:
“Honestly, we were just hoping for one bullet point let alone five bullet points that wasn’t about a ribbon-cutting or a flight upgrade.”
At this point, the Council isn’t sure what to do next, other than issue a few soundbites about accountability and transparency.
Meanwhile, the mayor remains occupied with her growing expertise in climate change—an area of study that appears to require frequent long-distance travel.
Experts say she is now the world’s leading authority on how global warming affects first-class seating arrangements, emphasizing “the importance of transformational leadership through strategic engagement.”
