A Texas community mourns the loss of 18-year-old junior rodeo champion Ace Patton Ashford of Lott, who died in a tragic horse accident. On August 12, while tending to a sick calf near Chilton, a nearby horse became agitated, entangling Ashford’s leg and dragging him across a field, according to the Lott Volunteer Fire Department. He suffered severe head injuries but was still breathing when help arrived. Ashford was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, where he later died. A recent high school graduate, his passing has deeply impacted his community.
