Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard expressed her wish that her office work on “rebuilding the trust” of fellow Americans.
Gabbard’s Saturday television interview was the first since her confirmation to her post. The director spoke to Fox News’s newest anchor Lara Trump on My View as a former victim of what she referred to as “politicization of the intelligence community” when she was put on the “Quiet Skies” domestic terrorist watchlist.

“It really speaks to how these institutions that exist to ensure safety, security, and freedom of the American people being weaponized against the American people actually creates a greater national security risk when we, the American people, cannot trust those who have the responsibility to keep us safe,” Gabbard said.
Trump asked Gabbard what she would want history books to write about her time as national intelligence director.
“That I will have made an impact on rebuilding the trust the American people deserve to have in these institutions that exist to serve the people,” Gabbard said. “There are a lot of great Americans bringing that focus back as director of national intelligence as the heart of the impact that I hope to be able to make.”

Gabbard reported that President Donald Trump‘s removal of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in her department saved roughly $20 million of taxpayer dollars. As director she anticipated they would find more previously wasteful spending to which they’d put an end.
Every Republican but one voted to confirm Gabbard to her position. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who recently suffered a fall in the U.S. Capitol and since announced he won’t be running for reelection, claimed that Gabbard had “a history of alarming lapses in judgment.”
